The library
Our most recently completed job is the Business Exchange, which is designed to be a pleasant place to meet and collaborate with other business people in Second Life. We suggested that it should be modelled on the London Coffee Houses of the 17th and 18th centuries, which were amazing places: egalitarian, lively and interesting places to exchange ideas and find people to collaborate with.

We have built somewhere which will support a community of SL business people. Breaking away from the conference rooms of SL, there are pleasant meeting areas in the gardens, and a glossy ballroom for events. It is a flexible, enjoyable place, which can host a large number of different events. It also contains an information Library, which we are helping to develop, and which we hope will grow into a valuable resource for all SL businesses.

On the pitch
The Ajax ArenA is a 75% lifesize replica of the Amsterdam Ajax ArenA, and was commissioned by KPN/Planet Internet (media division). The build is designed to house streamed football games from the Netherlands Premier League, which are provided on a pay-to-view basis. The sim is open to others outside event times.

The size and accuracy of the SL representation of the ArenA can only be appreciated by visiting it, although these pictures give some idea of the detail of the build.

Quite apart from the complexity of reproducing a real-life building in detail, there were some particular challenges to be overcome. When a stadium which can hold fifty thousand people is built in SL and the limit for a sim is only 50 avatars, filling the stadium with seats and people is a challenge. We have overcome this currently with the first draft of a textured sheet system, which we are soon to replace with version two.

The other challenge was to make the skybox in the ArenA suitable for SL avatars when the ArenA is 75% of lifesize, and many avatars are nearly 200%. We adapted the skybox and allowed extra room to ensure that it accommodated the normal range of avatars.

The ArenA has proved a popular place since it's opening in mid-March 2007, and has attracted a lot of media attention.

In early 2006, we developed a sim in six weeks to provide a demonstration of the possibilities of the Second Life platform. Some of the innovations included a "follower pet" by Oclee Hornet which triggered explanations in chat of the surroundings, a trampoline game and bash-the-mole game.

The Pot Healers mystery has been available as a free-to-play immersive questing game for over a year now. Originally due to close after a few weeks, the players then, and many players since, donated to keep the game open and alive.
